The last verse in Parshat Vayigash discusses on the Jewish people are living in the land of Goshen.
“Thus Israel settled in the country of Egypt, in the region of Goshen; they acquired holdings in it … – ויאחזו בה”
There is a contradiction within the interpretation that describes the duality that defines the life and struggles of a Jew in Galus / Diaspora.
On the one hand it means 1 – the Jewish people acquired the land; took possession of the land.
On the other hand it means 2 – that the land held the people.
This is our constant STRUGGLE in our host countries.
It’s time for us to go HOME.
